Creating a greener, more sustainable community

The aim is to create a well-designed and sustainable new neighbourhood that responds positively to Market Deeping and its surroundings. Through energy-efficient homes, responsible material sourcing, green infrastructure, biodiversity improvements and sustainable drainage, the proposals seek to deliver lasting benefits for residents, the local community and the environment.

Energy-efficient new homes

Planning for the future

New homes are built to higher energy standards than many older properties, helping residents reduce energy use, carbon emissions and household running costs.

Research by the Home Builders Federation shows that on average buyers of new build houses, rather than flats or bungalows, save up to £183 per month, totalling more than £2,200 a year. Similarly, an average new build home powered by 57% less energy than older homes, meaning they are more environmentally friendly.

The homes proposed for Market Deeping will be designed to meet modern building standards, including electric charging points, improved energy efficiency, low-carbon heating and renewable energy generation.

Green infrastructure and biodiversity

Homes for local wildlife

The proposals will include new landscaping and green infrastructure to help create an attractive and environmentally responsive place to live. This includes new tree planting, native planting, habitat creation and the strengthening of existing vegetation and landscape boundaries wherever possible.

These measures will help support local wildlife, enhance biodiversity and contribute to the green character of the surrounding area.

Sustainable drainage

Managing flood risk

A sustainable drainage strategy will be developed to manage surface water responsibly across the site. This includes features such as swales, attenuation basins and other natural drainage solutions.

As well as helping to manage flood risk and water quality, these features can provide ecological benefits and form part of the wider landscape design.
